About the Artist

I explore the natural world through light, color, and gesture, with particular attention to small, easily overlooked moments. Using ultralong and macro lenses, I am drawn to subjects at the edge of perception—hummingbirds in flight, insects in motion, and brief interactions shaped by ambient color and directional light.

My way of seeing began early in life through photography and deepened over the course of a career in medicine and research, where close observation, patience, and sensitivity to subtle change are essential. That same attentiveness informs my photographic practice, which is guided less by documentation than by discovery.

For decades, I have also lived with a corneal disease that has caused visual impairment and periods of blindness. Corneal transplants and custom contact lenses restored my sight and gave me an enduring awareness that vision is both fragile and extraordinary. That experience continues to shape my work and strengthen my commitment to seeing what might otherwise be missed.

Many of these images come only after long periods of observation—returning to the same place, at the same time, and waiting for light, movement, and form to align. Through this work, I hope to reveal the beauty, wonder, and quiet significance that surround us every day.
